AI Code Monitor pilot program overview [FAQ]

We’re getting a lot of questions about our pilot program for our new SaaS solution, AI Code Monitor (AICM), which assesses the use of GenAI in the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

We put together this FAQ to help you decide whether AICM is the right fit for your organization — and whether a pilot with Sema makes sense.

What is the cost of the pilot, and how long does it take?

$0.

The process takes less than an hour.

How will AICM benefit my organization?

AICM gives engineering managers, directors, and CTOs a direct line of sight into how GenAI is getting adopted across an engineering team. Key features include:

  • Heat maps to alert when GenAI is being used
  • Developer-level metrics that demonstrate how GenAI is being used
  • Comprehensive GenAI bill of materials

With this data, technical leaders can build protocols to handle GenAI in their codebases and work more effectively to build governance programs with (1) stakeholders across the c-suite, (2) boards of directors who are accountable to c-suites, and (3) practitioners at all levels of the engineering organization.

What does the pilot program entail?

Sema will set up a one-time codebase scan that takes less than an hour.

Most likely, you’ll want to loop in a few people on your engineering team: one or multiple developers with expertise in GenAI code, an engineering manager or director, and your CTO.

We’ll start by asking you questions about your AI risk assessment goals. From there, we’ll implement AICM into your organization, as part of a strategic process or workflow.

Is it OK if my AI operation is still at an early stage?

Absolutely.

We are early-to-market with AICM in order to work with industry leaders at the front lines of  incorporating GenAI into the SDLC. We are building this solution in close alignment with our customers’ needs.

What can I expect during the pilot?

You can expect questions, as we understand how to tailor AICM to your unique codebase and technical organization. We’ll work with you, closely, to introduce GenAI into your codebase.

What happens after the pilot?

After the pilot, you can decide whether a paid AICM SaaS subscription is a good fit for your technical organization. We’ll determine the right frequency to scan your codebase along with reporting metrics that align with your risk assessment goals.

Most likely, we’ll start with a paid Phase II pilot as an additional checkpoint between the Phase I pilot and paid subscription.
